AGATA SMÓLSKA MACKIEWICZ
Agata Smólska is a painter based in Gdańsk, Poland. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk where she studied oil painting and etching. After receiving M.F.A. in painting she continued her studies in art history at the University of Warsaw. She received an M.A. in art history with a thesis focused on the life and work of Gwen John.
In 2015, Agata was selected as one of the 100 ‘Van Gogh artists’ to paint the ‘Loving Vincent film by Breakthru Films.
Since 2019, she has been attending the Dulwich Art Group School in London, England, where she has been a Clare Haward and Alex Tzavaras student.
Agata is a grant holder of the City of Gdańsk and Bremen (DE). In 2022 she received a Ministry of Culture and National Heritage scholarship. Her works are in private collections in Poland, England, Germany and the United States.
Working mainly in oils, charcoal, and pencils, Agata is fascinated with the quiet world of still life. She also loves to draw from Old Masters paintings.

AGATA SMÓLSKA MACKIEWICZ
Uczennica Anny Szpadzińskiej-Kos oraz dr Janusza Janowskiego. Absolwentka Wydziału Malarstwa Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Gdańsku (2009) oraz Instytutu Historii Sztuki na Uniwersytecie Warszawskim (2013). Dyplom z malarstwa obroniła w pracowni prof. Macieja Świeszewskiego, aneks wykonała w pracowni wklęsłodruku metalowego prof. Aliny Jackiewicz-Kaczmarek. Pracę magisterską z zakresu historii sztuki, poświęconą życiu i twórczości Gwen John napisała pod kierunkiem prof. Andrzeja Pieńkosa.
W latach 2015-16 jako jeden z malarzy-animatorów brała udział w realizacji pełnometrażowej animacji malarskiej Twój Vincent.
W roku 2016 realizowała grant artystyczny miasta Brema.
W 2019/2022 uczyła się w Dulwich Art Group & School oraz Royal Drawing School w Londynie.
W swojej twórczości często podejmuje temat wnętrza i martwej natury. Chętnie portretuje najbliższe otoczenie – fascynuje ją ekspresja przestrzeni naznaczonej obecnością człowieka. Niewyczerpanym źródłem inspiracji pozostaje dla niej malarstwo dawne, zwłaszcza o tematyce intymistycznej i sakralnej.
